James Harris worked on a variety of projects across several UK based entities, two of which I would like to highlight here.
James prepared the analysis of R&D qualifying expenses for several of our technology companies, ultimately reducing our reliance on outside advisors and consequently the fees associated with their assistance. The analysis involved a year of significant change for the companies, and James was able to pick up the process with limited assistance due to a change in resource availability.
In a second project, James demonstrated excellent forensic accounting skills, when tasked with identifying the composition of several very material, historical balance sheet balances that could have a significant impact on the financial reporting and tax treatment. James proved his analytical prowess, along with technology dexterity. He was able to interpret historical information with limited details to recreate transactions with which he had no original involvement across multiple accounting systems. The transactions took place during a period of acquisition, divestiture, and internal reorganization, and due to a more recent change in ownership, none of the original accounting team were available for assistance, nor were the supporting documents readily available. James persisted in gaining access to the legacy systems, gathering other peripheral documents and insight from other functions within the company until he was able to recreate the likely original chain of events.
In both projects James clearly demonstrated his ability to work independently involving the appropriate resources as needed. He is extremely easy to work with, responsive, and professional. He works well with outside advisors in the audit and tax area, as well as internal resources in accounting, legal, tax, and technology. He communicates well across all audiences.
As an executive from the global headquarters of the parent company, I would be happy to invite James back for additional project work in the future.
