Our goal

We want to encourage other accounting firms to create better work environments for their teams and a better service for their clients, all whilst supporting the UK economy.

As the most followed UK accounting firm we have a responsibility to lead by example. Our team receive best in class salary and benefits, we created the first ever business funded AAT bursary to allow low income households to study accounting, we put health and fitness as a top priority for social events and have a wealth of training, resources and solutions for other accounting firms.

Our Journey

The First striveX Supper Club May 2026

We hosted our very first striveX Supper Club at Soho House! Running a business can often feel like a lonely experience, so we wanted to create a space for like-minded people to come together — all striveX clients, all values-aligned business owners.

Creation of software company March 2026

After an accidential meeting in Scotland, James and Rachel met with Brad, a developer. Three months later and strively was born, a software company for financial firms to help them on-baord and track new clients.

Rachel interviews Keir Starmer August 2025

Rachel sat down with Keir Starmer to highlight the impact of late payments on small businesses. Her call for change has been heard, with the government now set to introduce legal deadlines on debt payments.

The first corporate Bursary scheme July 2023

Rachel's main drive is to make education accessible for everyone, being business owners and trainee accountants. She created the first ever practice bursary for AAT, covering the costs associated with becoming a qualified accountant for the lovely Stacey.

The accounting industry is governed by only a handful of recognised bodies, Rachel was appointed as a Director and Trustee of AAT for her vision and want to change the industry.

Rachel had now made a name for herself as a business owner, on social media and as a speaker. PQ recognised this achievement and awarded her accounting personality of the year.

A striveX wedding July 2022

With the team now more independent James and Rachel tied the knot in July and left the business for a whole month for their honeymoon.

The team was now in double digits and two managers were hired. It was a huge step for the business and gave both Rachel and James the headspace to continue working on growth and improving the service.

The first office September 2021

6 months after building ShedQuarters it was already outgrown. The driveway didn’t have enough room for anymore cars and so we moved to our now registered office in Buckinghamshire.

Shedquarters was born April 2021

They decided to transform their humble shed into a cutting-edge office affectionately called "shedquarters." With a little imagination and a lot of hard work, they turned this cosy space into a hub of creativity and productivity.

Solomon joined the team working from Rachel & James's kitchen table. Whilst Rachel had the luxury of her upstairs office, James and Solomon had the luxury of a bad back.

Rachel saw a gap in the market to help small business owners on Instagram. 3 months later she was the number one searched accountant in the UK!

Set-up shop! April 2018

James started the business in the spare room of the flat he shared with Rachel and their cat Pickle. At the time James was contracting for various multi-nationals whilst growing the accounting portfolio in the evening. The dream of a five a side football team was set in motion.
