Senior Manager

 Year End Accounts

£50,000–£60,000 DOE | Hybrid (1 day in office) | Manchester (M3) or Stokenchurch (HP14)

At striveX, we deliver trusted accounting and tax solutions to ambitious, values-led business owners.

We’re hiring a Senior Manager to lead our Year End Accounts function.

This is not a stepping-stone role. We are looking for someone who has already managed people in practice and is ready to take ownership of a team, workflow and standards.

You will report directly to the partners and have direct reports from day one.

The opportunity

You will lead a team of 6 junior accountants within a wider structure of 2 managers.

You will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing all year end accounts production and review
  • Reviewing corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Managing team performance, quality and capacity
  • Onboarding new clients into the accounts function
  • Ensuring deadlines are met without last-minute firefighting
  • Maintaining technical standards across the team
  • Supporting systems and workflow optimisation via BrightManager
  • Acting as escalation point for complex technical and client matters

This is a leadership role with accountability — not just technical sign-off.

What we are looking for

Essential:

  • ACA / ACCA qualified
  • 5+ years’ practice experience
  • Proven experience managing and developing junior staff
  • Strong review experience across year end accounts and corporation tax
  • Confident managing a portfolio of limited companies (£100k–£6m turnover)
  • Ability to manage workflow, prioritisation and team capacity
  • Comfortable holding performance conversations and raising standards

You will not be suitable if:

  • You have not previously line-managed a team in practice
  • You prefer purely technical work without leadership responsibility
  • You need heavy supervision to prioritise work

We are looking for someone who can operate with autonomy.

Our client base

  • Limited companies (£100k–£6m turnover)
  • Founder-led, growth-focused businesses
  • No audit work
  • Values-aligned clients

Working pattern

  • Hybrid: 1 day per week in office
  • Manchester (M3 2BY) or Stokenchurch (HP14 3FE)
  • Flexitime
  • Must live within 60-minute commute
  • Valid UK driving licence preferred

Salary

£50,000–£60,000 depending on experience and leadership depth.
